Mahisagar Bridge Collapse: 20 Dead, 1 Missing in Major Tragedy

On the morning of July 9, 2025, tragedy struck when a large section of the Gambhira (Mujpur) Bridge over the Mahisagar River collapsed around 7:30 AM. Several vehicles, including trucks, vans, motorcycles, and an autorickshaw, plunged into the river from a height of nearly 50 feet.

Rescue teams, including the NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade, and local police, rushed to the scene. Despite their tireless efforts, 20 people were confirmed dead, multiple others were injured, and at least one person remains missing.

The bridge, constructed nearly 40 years ago in 1985–86, had reportedly been flagged for safety concerns in recent years. However, no significant repairs were carried out—raising serious concerns about infrastructure oversight.
