How to Reach Mahi Resort From Vadodara, Anand and Borsad: The Complete Route Guide
Planning a day picnic, a weekend stay, a wedding or a corporate outing at Mahi Resort? The first question most guests ask is simple: how do we get there?
For a little over a year, that answer was complicated for anyone coming from the Anand side of the Mahi River. Long detours added time and stress to what should be an easy drive.
That has now changed. With the new Gambhira-Mujpur bridge open to traffic, Mahi Resort is once again easy to reach from both sides of the river.
This guide covers every route, whether you are driving from Vadodara city, Padra, Anand, Anklav, Borsad, Nadiad or Ahmedabad, along with tips on the best time to travel, what to carry, and how to share directions with a large group of guests.
The Big Update: The New Gambhira Bridge Is Open
On 9 July 2025, a section of the old Gambhira bridge over the Mahi River collapsed during morning traffic. Twenty-two people lost their lives. It was a painful day for our entire region, and our thoughts remain with every family affected. The old bridge, built in 1985, had been a major link between central Gujarat and Saurashtra, carrying around one lakh vehicles a day.
On 20 September 2026, the new Gambhira-Mujpur bridge was inaugurated. Here is what guests should know about it:
-
The new bridge is 868.75 metres long, with 23 spans and 21 piers.
-
It connects Padra taluka in Vadodara district with Anklav in Anand district, restoring the direct route between the two sides of the river.
-
Construction began on 14 August 2025 and was completed on 13 August 2026.
-
It uses epoxy-coated steel to resist corrosion and improve durability.
-
Inspection platforms have been built at every pier so the structure can be checked regularly.
-
Safety testing was carried out before the bridge was opened to traffic.
For guests of Mahi Resort, the practical meaning is simple. If you live in Anand, Anklav, Borsad, Petlad or nearby towns, you no longer need to take a long detour. The direct route is back.
Where Exactly Is Mahi Resort?
Mahi Resort is located on the Padra–Borsad Highway, near the Gambhira bridge, Padra 391440, Gujarat.
The resort sits beside the Mahi River, which is a big part of what makes it special: green surroundings, open skies and a calm riverside setting, all within easy driving distance of Vadodara.
Because the resort sits on a main highway, you don't have to navigate narrow village lanes or unmarked turns. If you can find the Padra–Borsad Highway, you can find us.
Route 1: From Vadodara City
-
Most of our guests come from Vadodara, and this is the most straightforward route.
-
Step 1: Head towards Padra. From central Vadodara, take the Vadodara–Padra road. Depending on where you start (Alkapuri, Gotri, Akota, Manjalpur, Karelibaug or Waghodia Road), Google Maps will guide you to the Padra road.
-
Step 2: Continue through Padra. Once you reach Padra town, follow signs for the Padra–Borsad Highway.
-
Step 3: Drive towards the Gambhira bridge. Stay on the Padra–Borsad Highway heading towards the Mahi River. Mahi Resort is on this stretch, on the Padra side, before you cross the river.
-
Approximate drive time: [Add drive time from Vadodara city centre, checked on Google Maps on a weekday and a weekend]
-
Tip for Vadodara guests: If you are coming for a day picnic, leave the city before the late-morning traffic builds up. You will have more time at the pool and on the lawns, and you will avoid the midday sun on the road.
Route 2: From Anand, Anklav and Borsad
This is the route that has changed the most, and it is now the easiest it has been in over a year.
From Anand: Drive from Anand towards Anklav. From Anklav, take the new Gambhira-Mujpur bridge across the Mahi River. After crossing into Padra taluka, you will be on the Padra–Borsad Highway, and Mahi Resort is close by.
From Borsad: Take the Borsad–Padra route towards Anklav and the Mahi River. Cross the new bridge, and the resort is a short drive further along the highway.
From Anklav: You are the closest of all. Simply cross the new Gambhira bridge and you are almost there.
For families in Anand district, this means Mahi Resort is now a genuinely easy option for a one-day outing, a birthday party or a weekend stay, without the long detour that was needed while the bridge was being rebuilt.
Route 3: From Nadiad
Guests from Nadiad have two options. You can drive to Anand and follow Route 2 through Anklav and across the new bridge, or you can take the expressway towards Vadodara and follow Route 1 through Padra.
Which one is faster depends on your starting point and traffic, so check Google Maps before you leave.
Route 4: From Ahmedabad
For guests coming from Ahmedabad for a weekend getaway, the Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway is the fastest way to cover most of the distance. From there:
-
Option A: Exit towards Anand, drive to Anklav and cross the new Gambhira bridge.
-
Option B: Continue towards Vadodara and drive out through Padra on the Padra–Borsad Highway.
[Confirm the recommended expressway exit and approximate total drive time from Ahmedabad]
A resort that's under a few hours from Ahmedabad makes a practical weekend option.
You can leave on Saturday morning, enjoy the pool and outdoor activities, stay overnight and be home by Sunday evening without feeling rushed.
Route 5: From Bharuch, Ankleshwar and South Gujarat
If you are coming from Bharuch, Ankleshwar or further south, take the national highway or expressway towards Vadodara, then follow Route 1 out towards Padra and the Padra–Borsad Highway.
Travelling Without a Car
Not everyone drives, and that is fine. Here are a few ways to reach the resort without your own vehicle.
By cab or taxi: The simplest option.
Book a cab from Vadodara or Anand and share the Mahi Resort location pin with your driver. For a day picnic, book a return cab in advance or ask the driver to wait, since cabs may be harder to find outside the city in the evening.
By two-wheeler: Many young groups and couples ride out to the resort. The highway route is simple, but always wear a helmet, avoid riding back late at night, and carry water in summer.
By bus: State transport buses run towards Padra and Borsad. You can take a bus towards Padra and arrange a local auto or cab for the last stretch. Check current GSRTC timings before you travel. [Confirm whether buses stop near the resort]
For groups: For school picnics, office outings and wedding guests, a hired bus or tempo traveller is the most comfortable and economical option.
Best Time to Travel
For day picnics: Aim to arrive in the morning. You will get the most out of your day, the drive will be cooler, and you will beat any weekend traffic heading towards the river.
For overnight stays: Plan to arrive by early afternoon so you can settle in and enjoy the resort in daylight.
In the first few weeks after the bridge opening: Expect more traffic than usual on the new bridge, especially on weekends and holidays, as many people who were using detours switch back to the direct route. Build in a little extra time.
During festivals: Around Navratri, Diwali and New Year, roads out of Vadodara can get busy. Leave early and check traffic before you start.
During monsoon: Riverside roads can be slow after heavy rain. Drive carefully, keep your headlights on in poor visibility, and check conditions before setting out.
